Software test manager looking for a new laptop. Do a fair bit of web dev and gaming too. £1,299 MacBook Pro?
My budget is £1500 maximum but ideally I’ll be spending as little as poss. My requirements are:-
Photoshop CS3
Dreamweaver (or similar… I used to raw-code everything in Notepad but like the tag colouring in DW)
Video Creation/editing
World of Warcraft
Initially I looked at the Rock Xtreme X770-T8300 as it’s an excellent gaming machine from what I can tell but I’m liking the idea of a MacBook Pro running Boot Camp to enable me to use the Mac for web design/graphic editing and occasional software tests.
Thanks in advance ![]()
Thanks for the replies, much appreciated!
Penyran: unfortunately GFX are a necessity for me to play World of Warcraft so I think I’m kinda pushed into Pro-land if I go for a MacBook.
I guess the next move for me is to look at whether it’s worth the extra money for a 17″ or a fractionally faster CPU…?
Macbooks are good. They are a little more expensive, but the quality of construction is worth it. For a hard core gaming laptop, I’d suggest something else, but for your needs a Macbook Pro should do just fine. Make sure to get the fastest CPU and video card options you can afford: upgrading RAM later on is cheaper than installing a new processor, and it’s impossible to upgrade the GPU.
